/edit i went through the entry today again and realised some incoherence and stuff and edited the words a tad bit, and added a few more picspardon the lack of updates, zy and i have been busy with nothing during the hols, just enjoying each other's company, but blogging is a very solidatry activity and decided to leave this part after he leaves adelaide. hes been gone for two wks already. I will be doing this entry as a diary format of some sort, so when years come by i know what i have done, so im warning you that this might be long and boring..
and there will be overdose of us in the pictures i predict..
so here goes..
the first few days zy was here we were just spending time together, plus doing chores like gardening, making my room and house a more habitable place. exams can do chaos to a room and zy cleaned it up nicely :)
my very own bangla sweeper
we went to alice springs for about 6days. you might have already seen the pictures in facebook, which is not complete by the way BUT i have no idea why facebook does not allow me to mass upload pictures, so i stopped halfway. it was such a beautiful place, great for trekking. throughout we were hiking up the King's Canyon, the Olgas and walking around the Ayers rock, surrounded by fine red sand and desert vegetation, rather grotty, but loved it.
at the airport
tired kimberly n casper, they din sleep the night before because they were packing.
wow picture in the Alice Spring airport lobby
Our hostel, first day of arrival.
the hostel cafe we ate in every dinner.
Loading up. Us as singaporeans, always always ALWAYS overpack, and then regret later. everyone brought backpacks, we brought suitcases! throughout casper was telling kim ''wo men pack tai duo liao, zhen de hen duo lo'' i agree!!!
on board the camel ride! the camel has foul breath and yawns v loudly. When I went up on it i stepped on her stomach accidentally and it opens its mouth and breathes smelly steam out (because of the cold weather). the camel is humongous and alice springs is habitat to the largest wild camel population.
The camel was running and it was quite frightening. you can click on this and look at my cock expression
kim and casper. cw lost her camel ride ticket and the mongolian man refuses to let her ride, or take pictures with the camel, mean!!!
in the bus with weird korean guy posing behind us. i actually din realise it until i saw the photos back in sg. he has a v v pretty gf on board with us too. they are all backpackers travelling the whole of australia for 6 months already. zy's army cap came in handy throughout the scorching afternoon sun and looks cute too haha
pit stop in the middle of nowwhere for a toilet break and lunch. toilets being any bush you can find without anyone peeing near you. the motto was ''every tree is a lavatory''
the visor zy brought for me was really good because it shielded me from the evil sun but din give me hat hair when i take it off. but looks abit weird when i wear it like that tho
this tiny carriage carries all our food, water and clothes (22 people) for the next three days.
we reached the king's canyon and is preparing to start the 12km trek, starting to go on top of this hill first. i think the colour of our shirts match up! wasnt deliberate tho! makes us shine in the desert.
the long ascent up
the view at the top
pictures along the way. not many as we were busy catching up the tour guide who, like fish to water, sort of floats on rocks and treks damn fast. zy says since its rocks all the way, taking 3 photos instead of 30 is the same...which i disagree intially because like every rock and valley was amazing and you felt you just have to take all of them down for further reminisience, but after coming back to adelaide and gg thru once again, actually no difference leh, sian.
thats our tour guide on the tip of the rock
after finishing the kings canyon trek, we went searching for desert padi melons. inedible, i forgot why they were still planted, except they were great for playing bus bowling, where we arranged cups on one end of the bus like tenpins, then roll them and see who scores, while the bus is driving at 90km/hr
super duper hardy. can stand on it without breaking
I regretted not taking pictures of the swags we slept in on campsite. But campsite was totally dark, out of civilisation and we barely managed to find our toothbrushes, wet tissues, socks and extra clothes. And as the temperature drops down to negative celsius, you can imagine why no one is enthusiastic about taking pictures. And because we couldn't find pjs and was too cold to change anyway, we din change clothes for the next three days, though i did change undies, but zy din!!!
in the dark everyone will scoot to different areas to change/pee/wash up. any physical attraction between me and zy was totally extinguished from our peeing sounds when we pee in close proximity to each other because I am scared of the dark. you can also see i am not interested in prettifying myself in anyway since theres no light no mirrors!
The next morning at olgas, in the morning where it is so cold, i wore FIVE layers. bodynits puffy jacket, goretex windbreaker from viv, gap fleece jacket, pink shirt, and white tank top. And i wore two pairs of tights inside my cargo pants. I am such a wussy. and as the day goes by i remove one by one.
i would say this is the pic of the trip. the scenic view at the back is unreal. this is the pic i will show my kids and say ''your mum travelled and saw the world'' haha
a steep slope to climb. many on the way actually. psst day 2 zy hasn't change his undies
face painting using aboriginal paint
on the bus going towards the famous Ayers Rock
at the base of the rock. the rock in diameter is 9km, and I think about 1.2km high not v sure. The aborigines treat this as one of their gods, so preferred us not to climb it. but we went around it. the aborigines explained creations using their stories and myths, so like holes on the ayers were described to be monsters' footprints, curving valleys said to be giant serpents crawling.
in one of the caves, which this is said to be the foot print of a terrible monster Karpany or smth
if you have sharp eyes you can see a grey trail up the''summit'' it is super daunting and even if its not their god i wouldn't do it.
going around the Uluru can be exhausting, so much so that cw dropped dead. but actually she just wanted to feel the vastness of the area, which is pretty confronting and cool.
going around the uluru
kim and casper, the kindest people i have ever met. everyone is in shag mode. kq, this is the guy whos working in dso as well. say hi if you see him! i told him about you too!
candid pics rock! thank you chiangwei
we came to this spot to view the uluru from 4pm onwards. changes colour because of the sun set.
4.30pm
5pm
6pm
was trying to jump across the ayers rock but failed because my double chin is too heavy
he really jumped damn high la
proof that we were there!
at dawn waiting for sunrise. this time lagi best, i wore four layers of pants. it was really freezing!
bravo zy doesn't need gloves and only wore two layers (and a 3day old underwear)! notice the lovely view behind him. looks like a poster behind doesnt it!
nicee
final picture of uluru before we left
a curious emu stalks the bus
tour guide digs worms called bushtuckers for us
chiangwei is fearless
stir fry worms. zy tried some first and he said it taste like shrimp and so i dared to try some and it was good actually! we ate kim and casper's share too!
seniors from another bus queuing for the toilet. its no fun growing old!
we then stopped by a salt lake, already dried up. the white ground as you see are all salt, and is really very very salty. we secretly licked a little bit of it hohoho
very happily prancing about. this move is choreographed by chiangwei. i think zy's moves are rather dancer like, maybe he does have innate dancing abilities people doesn't know of..
on the bus playing games. zy represented our group in the bid to swallow a Weetbix asap. which is just like v dry oat biscuit that needs milk or some water to go with if not weetbix will just soak up all the saliva and make u choke.
then we finished our trip and went to chill in the pub to get some much needed beer for our tired minds.

picture with the koreans and japaneses on the trip. the girl in red is Jenny, shes from korea and travelled the whole australia, ALONE! zy was so impressed with her. and the guy in stripes beside me threw away two pairs of slightly soiled jeans on our trip, so we figured hes super rich. and this photo proves to us that a hot shower, mirror, contact lenses and slight cosmetics can do people wonders. everyone looked so much better! except casper he still looks shag hahaha

then zy and i left early next morning to catch a bus back to adelaide, stopping a night at Coober pedy, a underground mining town.
this is me sleeping on the bus, and an unethical bf happily shooting away. unglam! i was quite peeved initally, but now i think its pretty funny. laugh away!
very happy zy but i think i took revenge from revealing his undies secret hoho. then again he say its v normal for guys to not change undies esp during field camp.
reached the border of south australia, at this point still not knowing what zy have taken of me..
drove from morning till evening to reach Coober pedy. this is the mining truck they use to extract soil oil so that miners can go into the ground and dig for opals
so all around the town we can see hills like that dug out by the trucks
our underground cave bunkhouse
the tour guide shows us how a typical bedroom in coober pedy looks like. 60% of the locals stay underground, because temperatures can reach up to 50 degrees there, and underground, the temp is a constant of 22 degrees
my very own bob the builder
aboriginal art. really loved those art pieces, but one cost about 500 bucks.
signed in the guestbook, making our mark as we leave..
had pizza for dinner with the whole bus. humongous delicious pizza.
i managed to eat three pieces and zy five, after which we swore off Domino's..for a week. look at my tummy :(
on a toilet break, from a very long trip home
zy saw a really cute puppy, belonged to one of the locals. he has the loves for puppies
on the trip back to adelaide. 1600km ride was killing us all but the scenery helped abit.. the flinders ranges
then we reached home, recuperate from the exhausting trip for about three days, bummed around waiting for casper and kim to come back from melbourne to tour around adelaide.
made cookies and bread
i wanna have braces too. zy have such nice teeth
i have the hots for beer, influence from zy
at mawson lakes
then kimberly and casper and cw came back, giving me a surprise bday celebration. they said to go for dinner at oyster bar and since it was only late june, i had no idea they were planning to celebrate my bday earlier.
origami roses from zy as bday present. loved it!
my fave cocolat cake. thanks girls!
at oyster bar for my 22nd birthday. I am maturing!!!!!!!
my lovelies and family in adelaide. can't survive without them. our friendship really built up throughout the years as we go through lifestyle shocks. kim, sylvia and chiangwei.
and of course zy, who makes me the happiest girl on earth
okokok i am tired alrdy. i persevered for 3hours. DEAD BEAT. stil have somemore. next time!
