something AWESOME just happened!I am doing a presentation on muscular dystrophy and I found a couple of articles from Dr Gyula Asc*rdi, a specialist on child neurology which were fan-freaking-tastic, highly relevant to what I am doing, but my university did not subscribe to the journal database that he was posting his articles on. Neither did Adelaide Uni nor University of Singapore subscribed to it. I was so determined to get those articles that I submitted a suggestion form to my library to ask if they could subscribe to them, but were turned down. So out of desperation, and really curiosity to see the articles, I decided to email Dr Gyula from USA and ask him directly for those articles.
Guess what, he replied within 24hours, with 6 articles on muscular dystrophy!!!!!!
I was really trying my luck, thinking of giving it a go when i know chances are slim and i thought he would never bother replying me, thinking he must be swamped with more research projects and patients and whatnot, afterall he is a specialist doctor=busy doctor. But he replied me, and gave me all the articles!!!! it is as though striking an academic potluck. as though like a small tiny little clownfish asking a big busy whale for directions in the great big ocean and the big whale took time to direct you. OMG!
godsend can! Dr Gyula, I know you will not be seeing this blog entry, but because of what you did for me, I am gg to score a high distinction just for you, and because of you.
since i am already blogging, some pictures from my camera taken over easter. no egg hunting because I was taken to A&E on an ambulance on thursday, the start of easter because of an extremely dizzy episode that nearly resulted in me fainting, and I vomited twice on the ambulance. It was really quite dramatic, but funny at the same time. The Royal Adelaide Hospital was just beside our uni and the initial plan was to wheel a very dizzy me to the hospital. But every slight movement of my head resulted in me wincing because of nausea. And because I have never had such a dizzy episode before, I was in hyperventilation. So the ambulance was called and it probably travelled 100m to get to the uni. And it was in the middle of lunch when the paramedics stormed into our little podiatry clinic and whisk me off in the bed.
Was put on an IV drip for 4 hours to stop the dizziness. Doctor said I had an ear infection, which was weird because I wasn't sick at all. Went back home all woozy and took a couple of days for me to recuperate. and by then, easter was nearly all gone and was all spent on household chores.
Car washing-water savvy me collected water from washing machine.
squeaky clean bumby which i wash every 3weeks with a couple of companions i bought over in Ebay
because i was sleeping 18hours a day to recuperate, the sunday of easter, I decided i need some sun and since the weather was perfect, shirl's nice beach blanket was nicked and we trooped over to the nearby park for some sun and fresh air. Sorry babe!
great weather, think air con 22 degrees with warm sun and cool wind. quite a few people were hanging out in the park like us as well, and some brought kids or dogs along. birds singing, dogs chasing balls, the laughter of kids playing tag and the soft swishing of leaves by the gentle wind.
we cant do without our lappies
